Galveston Firefighters Association partners with the Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) to bring you our 4th Annual Heroes & Hounds featuring Galveston’s own firefighters with adoptable animals from GIHS! Thanks to our dedicated firefighters, 100% of the proceeds benefit the work of the shelter.
An average of 2,800 unwanted and stray animals enter GIHS’ door each year. Since 1981, GIHS has been dedicated to promoting animal welfare and the protection and prevention of unwanted or homeless animals.
The Galveston Fire Department is the first paid fire department in the state of Texas. For over 130 years, GFD has been committed to providing the highest level of public safety services for the community, protecting lives and property.
